My Favorite Lyrics

I enjoy music, walopun cuma sebatas dengerinnya. Soal main musik mah…lewat banget. Bener-bener kelewatan kalo saya memaksakan diri untuk main musik, maksudnya. Dari sekian banyak lagu yang saya suka, biasanya salah satu faktor yang bikin saya jadi suka sama suatu lagu, itu adalah karena liriknya. Gak cuma lirik bernada romantis yang menye’-menye’ sih…tapi juga lirik yang bikin saya semangat lagi :D. 

Ada beberapa lagu yang dari jaman dulu banget waktu saya masih imut sampai sekarang dimana saya tetep imut juga yang tetep saya suka banget. Yang bisa bikin saya diem sebentar buat dengerin, atau even worse for those who’s sitting next to me, bikin saya ikutan nyanyi dengan penuh penghayatan.

Deep Inside of You – Third Eye Blind

Lupa ini lagu tahun berapa. Pertengahan 90an mungkin? Third Eye Blind dulu populer dengan lagunya yang Semi Charmed Life *itu juga baguuusss :D*. Tapi yang paling saya suka yang ini. Agak-agak slow rock, beautiful melody, dan pastinya…liriknya bikin galau. Here’s my favourite part of the lyric:

Another part yang bisa bikin pengen duduk di pojokan sambil goret-goret pasir:

Waktu temen-temen saya menuliskan potongan ayat suci, atau kutipan kalimat bijaksana, atau kata mutiara di halaman persembahan skripsi mereka, saya justru menuliskan kutipan dari lirik lagu ini. Karena bagi saya, lirik lagu ini menggambarkan gimana yang namanya bersakit-sakit dulu waktu harus berjuang demi suatu cita-cita *tsaaah…*.

Gak tau kenapa, waktu itu lirik lagu ini berasa betul-betul menggambarkan jeritan hati saya yang pengen segera break away dari penelitian dan skripsi. Nyiahahaha… Tapi sampe sekarang juga, kalo lagi merasa kerjaan gak abis-abis, biasanya saya bakal nyetel lagu ini kenceng-kenceng sambil kerja. 

Misery – Maroon 5

Ini baru satu dari beberapa lagu Maroon 5 yang saya suka karena liriknya. Misery ini sebenernya kalo dari liriknya, tipe lagu yang sedih kan? Ow, come on! Judulnya aja Misery. Tapi yang saya suka, lagu sedih tapi beatnya gak mewek *kecuali yang versi akustiknya sih…nah itu agak mellow*. Dan seperti biasa, liriknya jleb!

Payphone – Maroon 5

Another sad song from Maroon 5 delivered in a-not-sad-melody. One of the things that I really like about Maroon 5’s songs is the way they play with the words. Not only the meaning, but also the way the words sound.

Lagu Payphone ini single terbaru Maroon 5 di 2012. Begitu saya denger lagu ini: “Gila. Ini lagu bakalan nempel banget nih di kepala.”. True. Such an addictive song. You will keep on hearing this song haunting you. Note how the words are actually rhymes beautifully :)

My Way – Frank Sinatra

Truly an evergreen song. Ada banyak versi, tapi yang saya punya yang versinya Frank Sinatra. I love the lyric of this song for it reminds me to live my life in my own way =).

And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing

Greatest Love of All – Whitney Houston

I would say that this is my very favourite song from the diva, Whitney Houston. Saya bisa nangis lho kalo denger lagu ini *okeinimahsayajayangterlalusentimentil*. But really, the lyric has such a deep meaning

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadow

If I failed, if I succeed, at least I live as I believe

No matter what they take from me

They can’t take away my dignity

This is one of the best song to listen when you need a mood booster in pursuing your dreams ;)

Book of Days – Enya

Enya might not be a familiar singer. Tapi saya suka lagu-lagunya yang bernuansa Celtics. And most of her songs come with inspirational lyric. This one is my favourite part:

Coldplay rocks! Lagu yang satu ini daleeeem banget rasanya liriknya.

AAAA…. Eh seriusan deh, kalo lagi ngerasa capek ati, pengen banget gak sih ada yang menghibur kita kayak gini?

Betewe, versi asli dari Coldplay agak bernuansa orkestra. But if you want to hear this song in a different version, try the one covered by Febri Yoga (teteuuuppp… sebagai Febriownies saya mah promosi :)). Febri nyanyinya cuma diiringi gitar akustikan, jadi nuansanya lebih mellow, which means, lebih bikin pengen berurai air mata *apalagi pas yang part “tears streamed down your face… I promise you I would learn from my mistakes…”. Itu…bener-bener… keren!*

Firework – Katy Perry

Yep. One of the most happening singer ya si mbak Katy Perry ini :D. Saya sukaaaa banget lagunya yang ini. Video klipnya juga. Gak cuma beatnya yang bikin semangat, tapi liriknya juga bikin semangat.

Ordinary Angel – Frente

Astaga, saya ini hidup di jaman dulu banget ya kayaknya? Mhuahahaha… Frente! Ini ngetop di awal 90an gitu kan ya? Yang paling terkenal sih, Bizzare of Love Triangle. Tapi saya suka banget lagu mereka yang ini. Simple and playful melody.

This song actually tells us that it’s okay to be ourselves, though we’re not popular. Duluuu banget, saya pernah baca artikel yang membahas tentang isi lagu ini. Dan sejak itu, jaid tambah suka sama lagu ini. We’re might be ordinary, but we are ordinary angels =).

Russians – Sting

Sting! Bahkan di usianya yang udah entah keberapa, Sting tetep berkharisma. His voice and his accent! Lagu yang satu ini ditulis juga udah lama banget. Waktu zaman perang dingin antara Amerika dan Rusia. Okelah, mungkin waktu ditulis pas zaman perang itu. Tapi menurut saya, liriknya masih sesuai dengan apa yang kita hadapi sekarang

Pas saya pertama kali baca liriknya secara lengkap. Saya…nangis. I mean, it reminds me of this useless thing called “war”. Bener kata Sting dalam lagu ini: there’s no such thing as a winnable war. Gak ada yang bisa dibilang sebagai pemenang dalam suatu perang. All sides will have their own victims. And what for?

Oke. Lagu ini…sebetulnya berasa nyindir buat saya yang prokrastinator sejati. And that’s why I like to play this song kalo saya lagi dikejar deadline

Now finally I have another love song in this list. Ngeeekkk… Padahal lho ya saya suka mengklaim kalo diri saya itu romantis. Anyway, balik ke lagu ini. Pertama denger, memang tertarik karena nadanya. Tapi setelah saya perhatiin lagi, kok menurut saya liriknya simply romantic ya? Bahkan bagian yang nge-rapnya justru juga berasa manis gituuu…

Astaga. It’s 14songs already! And I actually still have a long list of songs that I like. But I guess it will be far too long if put all of them in just one post. So I guess that’s it… for now. Nyaahahaha… who knows saya terinspirasi lagi bikin posting model beginian.

Oh, dan bukan berarti saya gak suka lagu Indonesia. Ada lumayan banyak kok lagu Indonesia yang saya suka liriknyaaaa… But it will be, of course, another story.
